Customization
Three colour slots × ten colours, ten unlockable accessories, and ten unlockable styles to make your pet yours.
Features
PetPal renders every pet procedurally, so all of this is playable right now — with real streamed audio, and art you can swap in later. There's a 3DS build and an Android companion app. Here's what's already in the box.
Your companion
Pick one to raise. Every species has its own default palette and procedural look, plus deep customization on top.
Three colour slots × ten colours, ten unlockable accessories, and ten unlockable styles to make your pet yours.
Evolution is driven by encounter milestones — 50, 200, 500, and 1000 friends met.
Level, XP, happiness, energy, friendship, and an adventure rank that all move as you play.
Day to day
PetPal is built to reward a quick daily check-in as much as a long session. Care for your pet, send it out, then read about who it met.
The heart of it
The exchange pipeline is the part PetPal cares most about: trade pets safely, fold new friends into your journal, hand out gifts and rewards, and keep friendships growing. Every pass travels over the internet, so a player halfway around the planet counts exactly like one in the next town.
Now cross-platform
Raise the same pet on your phone. Link your 3DS and Android in Settings and your pet — name, species, stage, level, and stats — stays in sync across both through your teampetpal.com account.
Under the hood
Versioned and CRC-validated, with atomic writes, a rotating backup, and portable exports under backups/.
An animated hub plus ten screens, an easing/tween engine, touch and D-pad navigation, all at a 60 FPS target.
C++17 with libctru, citro2d and citro3d. Gameplay logic is decoupled from the device, so it's testable on a PC.
Hang out with the team and other players, get help, show off your pets, and be first to hear about new codes and releases.
